It's so true. We all want our kids to have the fun toys, the toys that teach, the toys that make sounds, the toys that everyone else has, the toys that ............. the toys that get left sitting in a corner, untouched.
We've all seen it, we're excited to give them, and the kids are excited to get them, and then they aren't so excited anymore. They need to be picked up, and put away at the end of the day, and usually, from my experience, they just get dumped on the ground, and then it's time for a new box of toys to get dumped.
Blocks & Legos, all can be great for building, but you could build towers with rocks and sticks as well.
Maybe it's time to think about that, bring in a box of sticks, pinecones & rocks & fun materials from your yard. Let the kids play with those, make paint brushes from pine branches, and collages from leaves and flowers.
We are blessed to have Mother Nature at our front door, let's get in the habit of using what's available, stop spending and start appreciating the resources we have.
You can make your own paint, stamps & science exhibits by collecting items while out walking on a trail. Kids love that stuff ( I do too). Let's get back to basics, because we all know kids love the boxes better than the presents inside. Using your Imagination is what keeps life interesting & fun.
