Yesterday I did a podcast episode at @radio_24_syv #fitnessmk talking about my successful 2019 ascent of Mount Everest without bottled oxygen. “Toughest Mudder Central. Sure I had mileage goals, but more then that, I had effort goals. I wanted to leave everything out on the course. I wanted the feeling of knowing my performance was the very best that I could give. The heat and humidity was a drain on all of us before the race. After sunset the mosquitoes came like a plague. I injured myself on my second lap and felt like I was done by lap three. Luckily my amazing pit cree @jjloveland was tough on me just like I wanted her to be. I had to get past my stubbornness and ask for extra help because of the pain and got two more laps done before the cut off. I was exhausted, just like I wanted to be. This was my best effort. The truth behind the saying “we’re our own worst enemies” is so strong. In reality, no one can get in your way of accomplishing your goals, succeeding or being the person you want to be but YOURSELF. ⠀ ⠀ As human beings if we fail at something, make a mistake, etc. we often put the blame on someone else. We find outlets to point fingers at anyone/anything else but ourselves. Why? Because it’s easy. ⠀ One of the hardest things to do is be self aware & call yourself out on your shit to just be better. To be aware that you’re the one stunting your own growth, you’re the one who is in the wrong, when you’re the one that needs to get it together be a better person, sister, spouse, son, friend & so on. ⠀ ⠀ Being self aware is so important.
