*LONG READ* Appreciation post!!
Since opening the affiliate I've worn many hats. Literally as I own a lot of them but figuratively too from painter, cleaner, coach, mentor, student, plumber, CEO, counselor, friend, leader and more.
When you open a box, you become the face. You build the culture within those walls and you are the coach that everyone meets first, that they turn to and that people see the most. As my business grew and my ideas of what I wanted from it and life I knew that the goal was no longer just to get me doing what I love, it's to get as many people living a quality lifestyle whilst improving the health, fitness and lives of as many people around us as possible. To do that I had to learn to let go. Let go of what is mine, let go of my members, my pride and joy. Learn that my opinion is just that. Learn that 2+2=4 but so does 3+1.
I've made and continue to make many mistakes on this journey but last weekend I had some real affirmation. 2 athletes from our gym went to a competition, performed well and above how they ever believed and for the first time the person I'd consider their main coach...wasn't me! Yet they moved well, represented my business incredibly and were excellent examples of what the members and community are like in our gym.
I know I can ask a lot from my staff and over the next year I will be turning the heat up on them again and really pushing for excellence & pride from them but in the meantime I want to say Well Done and Thank You.
Firstly to @chloesralph as she works hard to become the best trainer and athlete she can be. It is still very early on her journey into this world of coaching but her passion when on the gym floor is second to none and she always looks for ways to keep improving.
Thanks to my interns @danh2290 @alexanderj1990 @m.jordan.93 you guys are building a set of skills that will have a tremendous impact on the world and could literally take you around it. The intensity of the internship and pace of learning is about to go through the roof but in the long run you'll love me for it.
@drive.gc2 who sent me on this path originally but even this week had a conversation about he can continue to improve!
