I shot these flowers at Fort Tryon Park this past fall with a very special lens: my dad's Nikon 55 mm macro lens from the early 70s.
Infested with mold and equipped with the old mechanical locking mount, I didn't know if there was much hope for it. Nevertheless, I sent it to John White for AI conversion to fit a modern DSLR body, who partnered with his colleague in Michigan for cleaning. The results were tremendous: sharp images and seamless integration with my @nikonusa D500.
But the best part is the nostalgia of shooting with what he used for wildflower film photos in the late 70s and 80s.
