Time after time I have walked and driven by this spot... And time after time I could see a photograph of it that I wanted but the elements have just never lined up the way that I needed. It's not perfect, but today was the first time that I was able to create a photograph that's at least similar to the one in my mind. Chances are, it'll never be exactly right. I'm well aware that the expectations and goals that I set for myself are much greater than any that others could ever possibly toss my way... But, it is that never-ending desire to grow and to share these beautiful hills and valleys that keep my fire fueled and my focus on my why. So... Until I can capture a better image... Here... Is the 💙 of the Smokies.

Every time I summit LeConte, I bring a stone from the base. At the top of Mount LeConte is a pile of rocks. There was a club in the Smoky Mountains that hiked bags of rocks to the top of LeConte, attempting to make it the tallest mountain in the Smokies. They were just 47 feet short of their goal. #appalachianmountains #hiking #hikingadventures #nationalparkservice #nps #beanoutsider #greatoutdoors #optoutside #getoutstayout #getoutandexplore #goexplore #neverstopexploring #adventure #takemoreadventures #roamtheplanet #wanderlust #travel #smokies #gsmnp #gatlinburg #adventurethatislife #thegreatsmokymountains #friendsofthesmokies #smokymountains #hikethesmokies #thegreatoutdoors #nature #hikingadventures #mountains #leconte

Clingmans Dome, the highest peak in Tennessee and the highest point of the Appalachian trail. During season, Vistas are accessible by simply driving to the parking area or a number of trail heads start from here. One of our favorite photo subjects is this majestic hemlock. A victim of the woolly adelgid, It’s silhouette screams “Immortalize me in a photo!!” We even gave it a name #TheDomeCombTree. @adamgravett in frame. 📷 @smokyshiker

:: glad we got so much hiking in these last 2 years! This year we’ve had to take it a bit slower for baby 3, next year I’m sure it’ll be the same story because hiking with a newborn is kinda hard, but the following year I hope we are out hiking every weekend! It’s why I moved here from Florida! Mountains ⛰!!! :: #tbt

Sunrise from the fire tower on Mt Cammerer in the great Smoky Mountains national Park............It’s been my observation that sunrise happens very early in the morning. Most of our favorite spots are several miles up the mountain so we’re asked all the time, “When should you leave the trail head?” First, you should know your trail pace and abilities. It would be very difficult to go alone for a first night hike and successfully set your time for departure. Secondly, you need to know when sunrise is going to happen so you can allow an extra 30 minutes, often times the best shots happen before the sun breaks the horizon. there are several apps concerning whether which can help you with sunrise or you can simply Google it. Thirdly, I suggest you travel with a headlamp, a handheld light, and a friend 😊 @aozphotos in frame 📷: @adamgravett

Sorry for not posting in a few weeks I haven’t really left my apartment very much unless it was to get food or hang out with my brother. Here’s a picture of the stars that I took like 3 months ago.

This summer has made me hate running, but I'll still wake up early on my day off to run Cades Cove. (And trust me, I use the term 'run' very loosely here.) You simply can't beat those views.

There are many different reasons of why we all seek the mountains. Some to escape from the ordinary and forget about problems back at home. Others for some exercising and to catch some fresh air, or to feel like they’re on top of the world for a moment. Among many others. 🔻What is your reason? 📷 @adventurousdiego • 📍Blue Ridge Parkway, Tennessee 🇺🇸

Grotto falls is an extremely popular destination on the Trillium Gap Trail. It's 1.4 miles from parking in the Roaring Forks Motor Nature Trail. This was within the negotiated range with my 7-year-old so we took a great family hike. . . The trail is fairly easy and is being refurbished (with reduced ability to use it except on the weekends for now). Although longer it was quite a bit easier than the trail to Spruce Flatts Falls and took about the same amount of time. . . Grotto Falls is extremely popular and even though we got a moderately early start it was pretty crowded. There was plenty of water coming over and with judicious placement of rocks and waiting for the right moment, I managed to grab a shot of the falls without all the hikers. . . #grottofalls #waterfallwednesday #waterfall #gsmnp #visitncsmokies #visitgatlinburg #gatlinburg #greatsmokymountains #lovencsmokies #friendsofthesmokies #trailful #instagramtennessee #thenationalparkspass #visitmysmokies #national_park_photography #nationalparklife #waterfallsfordays

Last minute trip up Leconte after work on Monday paid off, while waiting for sunset near Cliff Tops I hear this owl land in a tree about 25 yards away. Had to double check my eyes(initially thought it was a crow), quietly scramble to change lenses and settings then positioned myself to get a good angle on him. . . . . . #gsmnp #smokies #greatsmokymountains #gatlinburg #friendsofthesmokies #hiketn #hikenc #visittennessee #visitgatlinburg #visitmysmokies #brysoncity #barredowl #owlsofinstagram #owlstagram_feature #blueridgemoments #865life #nikon #lovencsmokies   #owl #blueridgeoutdoors #national_park_photograpy #nationalparklife #nationalparkgeek #tristaradventures #instagramtennessee #thenationalparkspass #surftennessee #ncoutdoorculture #onlyintennessee   #homesweettn

The Noah "Bud" Ogle farm and cabin, which was built in 1879, is a testament to the resilience of nature and the structures from our past. The fires that burned much of the area in late 2016 spared this cabin, but it came close. There is evidence of the heat and fire in parts of the structure. The surrounding area had several sections of the forest that were consumed by the fires. In less that 3 years, it is hard to tell that there was ever a fire in that section. The undergrowth has made quite a recovery and nature is starting to completely heal over in those once charred areas. #budogle #cabin #greatsmokymountains #nationalpark #gatlinburg #gatlinburgstrong #historiclandmark #historiccabin #tennesseelife #nationalparkgeek #nationalparklife #greatsmokymountainsnationalpark #roaringfork #friendsofthesmokies #smokymountainassociation #gsmnp #nationalparks #smokymountains #noahogleplace #noahoglecabin #visitgatlinburg #visitmysmokies #historicplaces #greatsmokymountainsassociation #naturaltennessee #instagramtennessee #national_park_photography #landscapephotograpy #instagramtennessee #865life
