Meet Poppy the Bahamian supermodel! 🌺 She was named after the resilient flower that blooms in war-torn fields, but you’d never know about her difficult past when you see her strut around the city today. Keep reading for Poppy’s story and visit @mrbonesandco for Poppy’s fundraiser link, adoption info, and a video of her journey - you won’t believe how far she has come!

Poppy’s Story from @mrbonesandco : In May 2019 we took in an emergency case from the Bahamas, a very young puppy who had been crushed by a car at an estimated 3-4 weeks of age. Miraculously she survived on her own and without human intervention, for 1-2 weeks!
Over the past 2 1/2 months in our #OneLuckyPup rescue and rehabilitation program this little creature has been thriving! Now almost six months old, Poppy has logged weeks of intensive rehabilitation sessions at @amcny and countless rounds of home exercises, thanks to her dedicated foster parents, Lizzie and Will. Poppy has gone from not using one of her hind legs and walking on the tops of her paws (knuckling) to running at full force and using her paws like they were intended! Her severely shortened and contracted tendons and ligaments have gradually lengthened, and we believe she will eventually have a rear end strong enough to jump! As we close the end of her time in our program, due to the extensive costs of her diagnostics and rehabilitation, we are asking for your help.
Today (August 7), Poppy will undergo shockwave therapy at AMC while she is sedated for additional x-rays to better understand her hip alignment and how her pelvis has healed, as well as run additional diagnostics on her bladder. This will add an additional 1K to her care costs, putting her total case costs well over $5,000.00. If you can help Poppy cross the finish line we would be most grateful! Her fundraising link is in @mrbonesandco profile!
