On Thursday some good friends of ours called and asked if we could come and spend the weekend with them in their house in the mountains. I can tell you there was no need for arm twisting. What a treat. For me it doesn’t get much better than being immersed for a time with mountains, creeks and rivers all around. As nice as it is to be surrounded by God’s handiwork the most important thing is the value of friendship. These friends loved on us by inviting us into their home for the weekend. Loving people well is what Jesus did. When I was as far away from Jesus as I could get my brother Randy, who loved Jesus, would come into town and would spend time with me. You know what he did when we were together? Just hung out! Yeah that’s it! There was no “hey Dan you know you need to give up the drugs and alcohol” talk. There wasn’t any “hey Danny you really need to get in church” stuff. He just wanted to be with me. Sure he wanted to share what the Lord was doing in his life and offer me the hope he had within him but he knew he had to earn my trust first and he did that by loving me well. There isn’t room here for this but please read Luke 5:29-31. For Randy, Jesus was his example. Jesus said, “So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”” John‬ ‭13:34-35‬. So how are we doing? How will the world know who we are? Are we building trust with others? Are we loving others well? Wishing each and everyone the best of Sundays! 😊 #gsmnp #smokymountainphotography #greatsmokynps #greatsmokymountainsnationalpark #nationalparks #nature_brilliance #naturephotogrqphy #allnatureshots #nanpapix #bestnatureshots #landscapephotography #landscape_captures #explore #outdoorlife #landscapes #capturelandscapes #instagramtennessee @instagramtennessee #865life @865life #smokiesfriends @smokiesfriends

The cantilever barn located on the Tipton Place homestead was built in 1968 and is actually a replica of the original. This type of barn was common in the 1800’s and allowed a wagon to pull through the opening and unload hay or feed for the livestock. I believe the structure I was shooting from is original from the 1870’s. . . . . . . #greatsmokymountains #ipulledoverforthis #hey_ihadtosnapthat #ig_countryside #ig_awescapes #explore_countryside #trb_rural #raw_usa #raw_country #fotocatchers #rsa_rural #greatsmokynps #greatsmokymountainsnationalpark #greatsmokynationalpark #greatsmokymountainspictures #tennessee_of_usa #tennessee #tennessee_life #instagramtennessee #onlyintennessee #amazing_shots #photo_hitchhiker #fotocatchers #mountains #photo_hitchhiker #country_features #explore_destinations_ #raw_country #explore_destinations_ #smokymountainphotography

This is the Abrams Falls in the Cades Cove District of the Smoky Mountains National Park. You can reach it by hiking 2.5 miles along a moderately difficult and ruggedly beautiful trial. I struggled with a couple things on the image, one was how to compose it and the second thing was how long of an exposure. For the composition I wanted the waterfall to be large in the image but I didn’t want to zoom in and sacrifice all the wonderful surroundings. I ended up shooting at 13mm but then I cropped the image a bit in post. I think I found a happy medium for this 20 ft waterfall. On the exposure I ended up using a 3 stop filter and getting a 1.6 second shutter time. I wanted a little bit of silky water but I also wanted some detail as well. I think the 1.6 seconds was just about right. Tell me what you think😁 . . . . . . #greatsmokymountains #ipulledoverforthis #hey_ihadtosnapthat #ig_countryside #ig_awescapes #explore_countryside #trb_rural #raw_usa #raw_country #fotocatchers #rsa_rural #greatsmokynps #greatsmokymountainsnationalpark #greatsmokynationalpark #greatsmokymountainspictures #tennessee_of_usa #tennessee #tennessee_life #instagramtennessee #onlyintennessee #amazing_shots #photo_hitchhiker #fotocatchers #mountains #photo_hitchhiker #country_features #explore_destinations_ #raw_country #explore_destinations_ #smokymountainphotography #raw_waters #formatthitech #cadescove

I had a business trip in Tennessee and decided to take a little extra time on my way back home to visit the Smoky Mountains National Park. I arrived on Wednesday afternoon and then had a little bit of time Thursday morning. This shot is from Thursday morning. I was heading up to Clingman’s Dome (the highest point in the park) but by the time I got halfway up I was in the clouds so I turned around and as I was coming back down I seen this view and pulled over. This was a 30 second exposure and during the exposure another car pulled up behind me and did some light painting on the trees in the foreground. I really liked how it turned out😁👍 . . . . #greatsmokymountains #ipulledoverforthis #hey_ihadtosnapthat #ig_countryside #ig_awescapes #explore_countryside #trb_rural #raw_usa #raw_country #fotocatchers #rsa_rural #greatsmokynps #greatsmokymountainsnationalpark #greatsmokynationalpark #greatsmokymountainspictures #tennessee_of_usa #tennessee #tennessee_life #instagramtennessee #onlyintennessee #mills #canon6d #amazing_shots #photo_hitchhiker #fotocatchers #mountains #photo_hitchhiker #country_features #explore_destinations_ #raw_country #explore_destinations_ #smokymountainphotography

Photographer unknown. Reposted by @dannynash52 show the picture and photographer some love. • • • • • • A little bear and a big ole tree! By now, you’ve probably noticed, there’s no shortage of photographs of spring bear cubs. We are very blessed with some of the best wildlife photographers around and they consistently deliver images of wildlife for everyone’s enjoyment on FB, Instagram, etc. Perhaps when some people think of getting pictures of wildlife they think you drive around in the car and hopefully a bear family will cross the road in front of them or someone else will have spotted them and and there they are for everyone to get a snapshot. You’ve seen videos lately and that in fact does happen. This is the exception more than the rule however. The photographers I know that provide lots of these images often spend hours in the woods hiking game paths, hiking trails and even bushwhacking to find wildlife and not without its risks. Normally they’ve gotten up hours before daylight and traveled to the park to get out early and stay late and this is includes, for some, hours of driving from out of state. It’s the same with landscape photographers that sometimes hike miles in the dark to get to their destination for a sunrise or hike out in the dark after a sunset. It’s not always easy so I was thinking about the photography community around here and my hat goes off to these people. I’ve learned a ton from many of them and really appreciate them all and aspire to be like them in many ways. But most importantly, don’t forget we have an awesome Creator God that has given us the rich blessing of enjoying all He has created, “The heavens are yours, and the earth is yours; everything in the world is yours—you created it all,” Psalms‬ ‭89:11‬ NLT. I hope you enjoy your Friday and your weekend and all the little bear pictures your eyes can take in! 😊 #smokymountainbears #blackbears #bears #gsmnp #smokymountainphotography #greatsmokynps #greatsmokymountainsnationalpark #instagramtennessee @instagramtennessee #865life @865life #smokiesfriends @smokiesfriends #wildlife #wildlifephotography

This pretty lady had four cubs but now has only three. It looks like she’s laying on the one on her right side here but she’s not it’s just trying to sneak around her. It was fine and it got out and played with it’s siblings. 😊 Have a nice Wednesday! #smokymountainbears #blackbears #bears #smokymountainphotography #greatsmokynps #greatsmokymountainsnationalpark #nationalparks #nature_brilliance #naturephotogrqphy #allnatureshots #bestnatureshots #landscapephotography #landscape_captures #explore #outdoorlife #outdooradventurephotos #landscapes #capturelandscapes #instagramtennessee @instagramtennessee #865life @865life #smokiesfriends @smokiesfriends

Early yesterday morning as I was still reflecting on all that took place on that Easter morning so long ago my heart was full. I was moved with the reality for the millionth time that anyone can have a personal and intimate relationship with Jesus as a result of His death, burial and resurrection! (1 Cor. 15:3-4). It happens by faith and I feel it and sense it in my spirit that my life has been bought for a price, a heavy price, (1 Cor. 6:20). “We focus a great deal of understandable attention on the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus. But we should never stop there. As important as those two events are, there is a third that is connected to them that when left out or ignored, has a huge impact on our thinking, attitudes, and actions. That third event is what we call, the Ascension. Luke tells us about this all important event, “And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them. They also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”” ‭‭(Acts‬ ‭1:9-11‬). We are told that Jesus spoke to the disciples, gave them their instructions to take the Gospel into all the world, and then was raised up, ascended, into the clouds and out of sight. The theological capstone on the Crucifixion and Resurrection was that Jesus was raised to glory in order to take His place at the right hand of the Father. The imagery of being at the right hand is that Jesus is now reigning over creation as Lord and Christ.” (Excerpt from Provocative Christian Living). We have nothing to fear! Go check out this new song by Hillsong on YouTube. There are two versions get this one > Highlands (Song of Ascent) // New Song Cafe. Both versions great! These lyrics!!!!! Have a joyous day friends! 😊 #landscapes #gsmnp #smokymountainphotography #instagramtennessee @instagramtennessee #865life @865life

Hooded Warbler male (3). Lots of these in the Smokies. “Common in shady undergrowth within mature deciduous forests. Usually seen flitting through low vegetation with tail raised and fanned. Overall olive and bright yellow plumage with clean yellow face and mostly white tail distinctive. Black hood and throat of males and some adult females is distinctive; even the drabbest females show suggestion of this unique hooded pattern. Voice: Song loud, clear, and musical, without sharp notes: a short series of slurred notes with emphatic end tawee tawee tawee-teeoo or tew tew tew teew teo twee tweee teew. Song most like Chestnut-sided, Magnolia, and Swainson's warblers. Call a flat, squeaky tiip. Flight call a clear, rising tsiip like American Redstart.” (Sibley) Have a great day! 😊 #hoodedwarbler #warbler #birds #birdsofinstagtam #pocket_birds #nuts_about_birds @feather_perfection #feather_perfection #birdextreme #udog_feathers #cornellarbofornithology @cornellabofornithology @feather_perfection #your_best_birds #birds_adored #bb_ig_ig #best_birds_of_ig #audobonsociety #birdofthemonth #birdyourworld #thebirdnature #instagramtennessee @instagramtennessee #865life @865life #gsmnp #smokymountainphotography #greatsmokynps #greatsmokymountainsnationalpark #nationalparks

You may unfollow me if you read this and that’s ok but on this Easter morning I want to be as personal as I’ve ever been on this platform. Some of this I may have touched on before so this will be short and to the point. I’m 67 years old. I was a product of the counter culture movement of the 60’s and 70’s. I spent over a decade of my life abusing drugs and alcohol. I started with marijuana in 1968 at the end of my sophomore year in high school. Then after high school came hallucinogens, then barbiturates and from there heroin, cocaine and about every other Class A narcotic available and lots of alcohol to accompany the drugs. In 1981, after being steeped in this lifestyle and searching for truth, I was miraculously freed from this darkness (Colossians 1:13-14) without receiving any kind of inpatient treatment or outpatient counseling. How? What I want to ask you to do now is to watch/listen to what my all time favorite expositor (preacher) of the scriptures (John Wood) who retired last April 1st says that makes Easter the most celebrated day on the calendar for Christ followers and why I believe what I do. Will you take the risk? If just one person listens and gets set free this will have been my gratifying post ever! So please take a chance and go to www.cspc.net, Cedar Springs PC, and scroll down towards the bottom to Sermon Library and then scroll up till you get to April 1, 2018 “A Living Hope” which only will takes 23 minutes 52 seconds of your time. Most of you won’t do this but someone needs this today on Easter Sunday and I’m not just talking about getting free from some kind of abuse. I’m talking about getting free from the entanglement of the world and the weight thereof and so much more. Please consider! Wishing the best of Easter’s to all of you! 😊 He is Risen! #easter #resurrection #dogwood #river #landscape #cadescovephotography #gsmnp #smokymountainphotography #instagramtennessee #865life @865life #smokiesfriends @smokiesfriends @instagramtennessee

Good Friday! This is a repost but I thought fitting in some ways of the beginning of darkness that fell on the world that afternoon 2000 years ago. “What is Good Friday and why do we call Good Friday “good,” when it is such a dark and bleak event commemorating a day of suffering and death for Jesus? For Christians, Good Friday is a crucial day of the year because it celebrates what we believe to be the most momentous weekend in the history of the world. Ever since Jesus died and was raised, Christians have proclaimed the cross and resurrection of Jesus to be the decisive turning point for all creation. Paul considered it to be “of first importance” that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and was raised to life on the third day, all in accordance with what God had promised all along in the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:3). On Good Friday we remember the day Jesus willingly suffered and died by crucifixion as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins (1 John 1:10). It is followed by Easter, the glorious celebration of the day Jesus was raised from the dead, heralding his victory over sin and death and pointing ahead to a future resurrection for all who are united to him by faith (Romans 6:5). Still, why call the day of Jesus’ death “Good Friday” instead of “Bad Friday” or something similar? Some Christian traditions do take this approach: in German, for example, the day is called Karfreitag, or “Sorrowful Friday.” In English, in fact, the origin of the term “Good” is debated: some believe it developed from an older name, “God’s Friday.” Regardless of the origin, the name Good Friday is entirely appropriate because the suffering and death of Jesus, as terrible as it was, marked the dramatic culmination of God’s plan to save his people from their sins.” Christianity.com I hope everyone has a Good Friday! 😊 #goodfriday #easter #landscapephotography #landscape_captures #explore #outdoorlife #outdooradventurephotos #landscapes #capturelandscapes #instagramtennessee @instagramtennessee #865life @865life #smokiesfriends @smokiesfriends #cadescovephotography #gsmnp #smokymountainphotography #greatsmokynps #greatsmokymountainsnationalpark #nationalparks #nature_brilliance

A gloomy, rainy day. A mother, three cubs, one cub regularly in the open, two out of sight most of the time. At one point all three were play fighting. This one’s little eye reflecting what light there was in the sky as he looks up this enormous tree. So precious. Still unsuccessful getting a keeper family photo. In 2013 we went to the Smoky Mountains on our very first vacation. We fell in love with Tennessee. On the last day we were there we found The Little Log Wedding Chapel. We made the decision right then and there that that’s where we wanted to be married. We went back home and made all the arrangements; told our families of our plans and invited them. Five months later we were married. And after almost 6 years, she has still kept me around. 😉 I have always said, this was the trip that fueled our passion for the Great Smoky Mountains. #littlelogweddingchapel #weddingdress #gatlinburgwedding #wedding #tennessee #tennesseewedding #tennesseeweddingphoto #smokymountainphotography #vacation #anniversary #love #smokymountains
