ClarkeHopkinsClarke are currently working on the masterplanning, redevelopment and staged delivery of the 445ha Marnong Estate in Mickelham to provide a unique destination that will showcase the best of Victorian food, culture and entertainment. Marnong Estate's original homestead was one of the first pieces of the plan to be completed. It has been brought into the 21st century through a painstaking restoration process that respects and celebrates it's heritage features. Photo by @petermarkophoto For @marnongestate

“I did not know it was taboo to wear black outfits when I was younger.”⁣ ⁣ All black, the stereotypical uniform of every architect, doesn’t work well for the Luna New Year. A sad fact Ben discovered after receiving disapproving glances from the older generation year after year. And his mum has 13 siblings, so that is a lot of raised eyebrows and pursed lips! He now loves the tradition of picking out a brand new outfit for the first day, a practice that symbolises new beginnings. ⁣ ⁣ Happy Lunar New Year from Ben and all the team at CHC! ⁣ ⁣ #celebratediversity #lunarnewyear #lny2019 #yearofthepig #chinesenewyear #creatingvibrantcommunitites #allblack

“We do the "yu sheng" toss - we usually find bits of carrot and radish stuck in the light fittings around October later that year!”⁣ ⁣ Getting together with the family to chill out and throw food is a much loved LNY tradition for Janice. She also loves the annual pilgrimage to shop for new clothes… because any excuse is a good excuse right!?⁣ ⁣ Happy Lunar New Year from Janice and all the team at CHC! ⁣ ⁣ #celebratediversity #lunarnewyear #lny2019 #yearofthepig #chinesenewyear #creatingvibrantcommunitites ⁣ ⁣

“Meals with family, meals with friends, meals with family friends, rinse and repeat.”⁣ ⁣ For Richard, the Lunar New Year is a time for remembering his roots. His enjoyment of the traditional holiday has evolved over time. As a kid he loved the red packets, as a teen he looked forward to the shandy drinks (which was the closest thing to alcohol he was allowed to drink). Now as an adult he enjoys the tea ceremony on the first day of LNY. The tradition reminds him to not take his parents for granted. ⁣ ⁣ Happy Lunar New Year from Richard and all the team at CHC! ⁣ ⁣ #celebratediversity #lunarnewyear #lny2019 #yearofthepig #chinesenewyear #redpackets #creatingvibrantcommunitites ⁣ ⁣

“My parents took all of the money from my red packets when I was growing up and said they were going to put it into my bank account, which they did not set up at all!”⁣ ⁣ Despite the thrill of opening up each shimmering envelope being eventually followed by the realisation she would never see the cash, Leilei’s favourite thing about the LNY is still the giving and receiving of red packets. She spends the holiday dining on dumplings and setting resolutions for the year ahead.⁣ ⁣ Happy Lunar New Year from Leilei and all the team at CHC! ⁣ ⁣ #celebratediversity #lunarnewyear #lny2019 #yearofthepig #chinesenewyear #redpackets #creatingvibrantcommunitites ⁣ ⁣

“We always have steam boat or hotpot with my in-laws... which is great unless we have one of those 42 degree days!” ⁣ ⁣ Clare’s family lives in HK and she hates missing their annual Lunar New Year gatherings, but FaceTime and other technology has really helped with that. She sees Lunar New Year as the perfect opportunity to eat too much food and buy new clothes. She loves seeing all of her family together, the decorations and the smile on everyone’s face.⁣ ⁣ Happy Lunar New Year from Clare and all the team at CHC! ⁣ ⁣ #celebratediversity #lunarnewyear #lny2019 #yearofthepig #chinesenewyear #redpackets # #creatingvibrantcommunitites ⁣ ⁣

What's with the goat? Well, this year we decided to ditch the Christmas cards and instead we bought a bunch of goats for One Heart Village in Kenya. Established by one of our partners, Dean Landy, the self-sustaining village provides education, shelter, food and love to 77 abandoned children. The goats will provide lawn maintenance, manure for crops and the young can be sold for income or kept to increase the herd size. Kew is a leafy, blue-chip suburb in Melbourne’s east, that is home to a demographic of established and older families. It is rich in history and heritage with many large Victorian homes and Art Deco buildings that run along tree lined streets. ⁣ ⁣ Aiming to appeal to local downsizers, we looked to the hallmarks of a traditional Kew home for inspiration. The connective spaces which run throughout each residence provide a sense of narrative when arriving home. Internal courtyards fuse with light wells to flood rooms with sunlight and provide visual connection to the outdoors. ⁣ A high quality specification of finishes showcases simple forms and allows occupants to feel at home in understated luxury.⁣ ⁣ Fresh to market - Burke Place.
