#SPYArtifact of the Day: A-12 Full Pressure Suit, CIA, 1960s. Flying high helped keep spy planes out of missile range, but also out of breathing range. How do you keep a pilot soaring and alive? The purpose of this A-12 pressure suit (courtesy of the CIA Museum) was to provide a livable pressure atmosphere for the human body when the cockpit or out of cockpit atmosphere was too dangerous to the suit wearer. Without it, a pilot could die in 15 seconds. See this remarkable suit on display in the Spy Museum’s “Looking, Listening, Sensing” gallery. . . . . . . . . #spymuseum #a12 #flight #flightsuit #internationalspymuseum #cia #spy #spies #museum #artifact #history

It's #WorldUFODay ! 👽 Between 1952 and 1969, the U.S. Air Force conducted a series of studies on UFO sightings called Project Blue Book. Thousands of reports were collected, analyzed & filed. However, the investigation concluded most were "misidentifications" of natural phenomena (clouds, stars) or aircraft. What do you think? Is the truth out there? . . . . . . . . #internationalspymuseum #spymuseum #spyhistory #history #museum #spyfact #ufo #alien #aliens #xfiles #thetruthisoutthere

Digital installation of the classic deception tale “The Trojan Horse.” We all know the story - ancient Greek soldiers slipped into Troy and conquered the city by hiding inside a huge wooden horse, offered to the Trojans as a “gift.” • Fast forward a few thousand years. The Museum’s “Covert Action” gallery demonstrates how today’s Trojan horses are a type of malware. Hackers sneak them into computers by hiding them in harmless-looking emails or jump drives. And like their ancient namesake, they are dangerous weapons masquerading as innocent “gifts.” . . . . . . . . #internationalspymuseum #spymuseum #trojan #trojanhorse #spies #spy #spyhistory #museum #spystuff #covert #espionage #deception #history #malware #dc
